Explaining Everyting Chap 2 Part 2 ( Chapter 3 )

Review Replies:

Sam is forced to join. - Thanks! Took me a while to think of it. Sorry that it took me so long to reply, and I hope though even though you were “forced to join”, you have fun, maybe even write your fic. ^_^

Wolf-Goddess-Miakoda - Trust me, it will be fun. Glad that you like the idea. As far as I know, it's new and I am the first to come up with the idea. YAY for me!

Hinata's DarkSide - Thanks! Yeah, I do know who this is, and you still owe me my birthday gift, girl. I see you everyday at lunch, and you always forget to bring it. For that, you're a baka no Inu. -_- You have a very poor memory, so I doubt you could remember anything even if it was glued to your head! Lol, well, I'll see you at school!

Menolly Harper - Well, just wait and see. Kagome might be considered OOC in this fic. This is a good fic so far, and I made it different than any others.

Chapter 2 part 2

Baraku got up and walked to the mirror to brush her hair. She was shocked to see a reflection in the mirror that was not her own. She thought she saw a girl with old clothes on, with long, black hair and a smirk on her face.

Baraku jumped back and fell over a chair. “Okay, I'm finally losing it!” she thought out loud. She got up and looked again, this time seeing only her own image in the mirror.

“I'm hungry,” she said as she walked downstairs, brushing off the weird reflection.

“How do you like it here?” her mother asked at the sight of Baraku.

“It's the same,” she replied. “It's just that since my experiences with Papa, and me living in America, well, I'll have to get used to living the Japanese life again. Since we've moved, I've changed. Now I can speak English, and over there it was a lot different. The students could care less about their studies, and they even had their own language, something they called `slang'.”

Her mother smiled. “Well, go on. Tell me about your friends.”

“It was funny,” she continued. “No one could say my name, so they asked what my name meant, and they came up with the name `Rose'. Some even called me `Mimi', but I have no clue why. At first, I was totally clueless because I couldn't speak the language, but it seems like I was taken in by the most popular and the wealthiest group in the area. They taught me how to speak their language, and they also hired private tutors to help me. It was sometimes hard too, because sometimes, when I tried to wear my favorite kimono, they all gave me strange looks, that is, until Marina told them that the kimono was everyday clothing in Japan. She knew she wasn't correct, but she did it so they wouldn't bother me anymore. I miss my friends there, but I still get to talk to them through email and chat rooms.”

Inuyasha's Forest

“Bye, Kagome, come back soon!”

Kagome smiled at the young kitsune. “I will, but there's something I need to take care of in my time before I can come back.” She waved to the others and jumped into the well, leaving them all to ponder what she had meant.

Modern Day

“That jerk,” Kagome exclaimed to herself, walking up the stairs of the well house. “All he thinks about is himself!”

She began to run towards the house when something caught her eye. She began to hear a voice coming from the storage shed. She ran to the destination, opening the door. She was shocked at what she thought she saw:

Tsubaki's spirit was looking at her with an evil smirk on her face. “I shall have the jewel, Kagome, one way or another!” And she vanished.

“Kagome?” a voice called out to her, breaking her out of her shocked state. “Kagome!”

“Oh my God! Baraku, is that you?” Kagome cried out as she ran to greet her twin.

“It's been too long!” they both said in unison.

“What are you doing here?” asked Kagome.

“What am I doing here?” Baraku repeated incredulously as she gave her sister a hug. “I live here now! So, where have you been?”

The twins talked for hours until their mom called them in.

“Kids, dinner!” she said.

“Coming!” they replied.

“Mother,” asked Baraku, “is it okay if I go out tomorrow?”

“No,” she said, passing out dinner, “we need to get reacquainted again. It's been about eleven years since we've seen one another!”

“Where's Papa?” asked Kagome, “Isn't he supposed to be here too?” Everyone's once happy faces turned sad at the question, but the most affected of them was Baraku. “What's wrong?” she asked, confused and scared about what she would hear.

“Kagome,” Baraku started, “he died five years ago in a car crash.” Baraku lowered her head and began to cry.

“Baraku, it's all right now,” Gramps soothed. “It's over.”

“No,” she replied, “I still have to tell her what happened.”

Flashback: 5 Years Ago

Father was driving down a busy street, Baraku along for the ride, when they heard a loud screeching sound coming from behind them. Baraku turned around in her seat to see what is was. Behind them was an 18-wheeler at full speed, charging straight at them.

“DAD, FLOOR IT!” Baraku boomed. Father didn't know what was going on, but everytime Baraku called him “Dad” instead of “Father” or “Otou-san”, he knew it was serious. Without warning, he stepped on the gas. The car was barely making it when the brake belt snapped. The car was swerving all over the road and crashed right into a pole.

They hit it hard, but they didn't care; they were alive, and they thought that it was over.

They were wrong.

Baraku remembered the truck. “Dad, let's get out of here!” she shouted. When there was no answer over her seat, she panicked and studied him. He had passed out from the impact.

Not now! Deciding to ignore her own pain, she undid her seatbelt, got out of the car, and ran to the front car door. After she opened it, she undid his seatbelt and started to pull him out of there. Father, you should've laid off the donuts.

She heard the truck coming and tugged harder. She began to smell something in the air. As she was pulling him, she checked underneath the car; it was leaking gas.

Oh, Shit! She got him out far enough to avoid the soon-would-be explosion, or so she thought. The Diesel crashed right into the car, causing a huge explosion. Baraku was sent flying into the air and landed hard on the ground. She was barely awake as she tried to move, but realized quickly she had lost a lot of blood, had broken bones, and she couldn't feel the left side of her body.

My arm! Where's my arm? She tried to scream out, but nothing happened. My voice…it's gone! She forgot about it for now and tried to search for her dad, but she couldn't find him. The fire trucks, paramedics, and ambulances arrived soon after.

“Search for survivors!” she heard the fire chief say before she passed out from blood loss.

End Flashback

“That's what happened,” Baraku continued. “I woke up in a hospital with doctors and nurses all over me.”

Flashback Continued

“You're finally awake, I see,” the doctor said.

Baraku tried to speak, but to no avail. Her eyes widened as she started to panic.

“It's alright,” he comforted, passing her a machine. “Here, use this to speak.” The device could transmit her words, allowing her to express herself as best as she could in her state.

“Why can't I talk?” was her first question.

“Your vocal cords and your voice box have been damaged severely,” he replied sadly. ”There is a chance that you will never speak again.”

She was still for a moment, but the flood of questions came rushing back to her and she moved on for now. “I can't feel my left side, my back hurts, and…why does it feel like I lost a limb?”

“You are paralyzed on your entire left side. The reason why feel like you lost a limb is because you have; your left arm and your right leg to be precise. The reason why your back hurts is because you suffered some injures to it, and it was so severe that we had to operate.”

Baraku found the volume on the machine and proceeded to turn it to the max. “What? I lost my limbs, can't talk, and I'm paralyzed? So you're telling me that I'm screwed for life? Is that it? If so, I'm not going to accept it! Get the doctors to teach me how to walk and talk again!”

“Calm down, Rose,” he said calmly, trained for such tragedies. “Even if we teach you, how are you going to pay for it all? This hospital will become your home until you are better.”

“Me, calm?” she shouted on the machine. “No way! After what's happened to me and Father?” She paused, opening her mouth to gasp, although no sound came out. “Where is Father?”

“We tried to save him,” a nurse said slowly and cautiously, unsure of Baraku's reaction, “but it was too late; he died during surgery.”

Baraku's once furious and disbelieving face turned into one of sorrow as she started to sob.

“Come,” the doctor said softly to the nurse, “let us leave her be for a while.”

She nodded, but had something to say first. “Rose, there are some visitors here to see you.”

Marina and her group walked in the room. “Rose,” said Marina, “it'll be alright now. I heard what happened.” She was a pale 14-year-old girl with brown eyes and long, blonde hair. She was wearing a Family Guy T-shirt that had Stewie on it that said “You will bow to me!”, and she was wearing black shorts.

Baraku stopped crying and looked up with a bit more of a perk in her ears; just seeing her friends here made her happy.

“Gomen nasai,” Marina said softly.

Baraku beamed at her now, because she had said something that meant a lot to her. Her eyes turned sad again when she remember she couldn't speak.

“We already know about your health by just looking at you,” Skyla chirped, “so no point in trying to hide it from us. Don't worry, my dad owns this hospital so I'll get him to pay for all of it!” Skyla was known for being cheerful and always wanting to help her friends. She was a 12-year-old girl wih freckles, blue eyes and long, black hair. She was wearing a simple black tank top and back pants.

“How long was I out?” Baraku asked her friends.

“You were in a coma for four months,” Shayla, a 13-year-old with hazel eyes and short dark hair. “You had everyone so worried about you. I mean, David would come here everyday to check on you.”

“Whoa, back up!” Baraku said through her machine. “Who's David?”

“I see that coma has affected your memory as well,” Marina frowned. “David's the one who has a crush on you.”

“What?” said Baraku.

“Oh, never mind,” Marina shook her head. “Well, all of us will get started on the paperwork, and you focus on getting better.” She turned to the others. “C'mon, guys, let's go.”

“Bye, Rose,” they all said in unison. “Get well soon!”

End Flashback
